Egg in a hole brings back nostalgic memories of Sunday breakfasts in Wynberg and Greyton. The cut out circles fried in butter are the best part!

Ingredients

  • Fresh bread
  • Butter
  • Eggs

Method

  1. Using a champagne glass (or any small cylindrical item) cut out holes from the centre of the bread.
  2. Heat up a frying pan, add a SIGNIFICANT amount of butter, and place the bread (and the cut out circles!) in the pan.
  3. Crack an egg with the yolk into the hole.
  4. Once set, flip the egg and bread and cook on the other side.
  5. Season with salt and pepper and serve.

Mmmm buttery and delicious!
