Egg in a hole brings back nostalgic memories of Sunday breakfasts in Wynberg and Greyton. The cut out circles fried in butter are the best part!
Ingredients
- Fresh bread
- Butter
- Eggs
Method
- Using a champagne glass (or any small cylindrical item) cut out holes from the centre of the bread.
- Heat up a frying pan, add a SIGNIFICANT amount of butter, and place the bread (and the cut out circles!) in the pan.
- Crack an egg with the yolk into the hole.
- Once set, flip the egg and bread and cook on the other side.
- Season with salt and pepper and serve.
Mmmm buttery and delicious!
